It’s that time of year. NaNoWriMo has begun. To encourage you to get involved and to keep writing, I am offering an extra-credit opportunity to all students who choose to participate in National Novel Writing Month.
Here’s what I’ll need you to do:
1. Visit http://www.nanowrimo.org and check out what NaNoWriMo is all about.
2. Write, write, write!
3. Post your word count, passages from your writing, thoughts and musings at: http://nanowrimo-thewritestuff.blogspot.com, Ms. Davidson’s NaNo blog. I will also be participating in NaNoWriMo, so you’ll get to see some of my writing as well!
4. On December 1, bring proof of your participation to class. I’ll accept printed writing, writing on flash drives or e-mailed word files, whatever is easiest for you.
You DO NOT need to reach the 50,000 word mark. That would be absurd to ask! All I want you to do is write as much as you can, and try your very hardest. I am rewarding effort here, not quantity. (For more info on NaNoWriMo, see the attached print-outs from their website.)
I plan on awarding the equivalent of three 25pt assignments to students who participate to reward them for their hard work and participation in this wonderful project. That’s the equivalent of three reading logs, or 75pts!
I hope you use this opportunity to better your writing and push yourself to new heights!
Write Away!

Wow, Ms. Davidson. You think that's bad? It's way better than mine.
ReplyDeleteI have a few more years of practice than you. You ought to post an excerpt!
